Mission Hills Haikou — Blackstone Course

Mission Hills Haikou, Hainan, China

Hainan

The flagship of Mission Hills Haikou's ten-course volcanic-rock complex, Blackstone plays 7,808 yards to a par of 73 across 350 acres of tall tree groves, dense jungle and lakeside wetlands. Brian Curley of Schmidt-Curley Design routed the course through Haikou's raw volcanic terrain, exposing black lava stone walls and old village remnants along the way, and built the whole layout without a defined rough — every non-hazard area is maintained as fairway. Its 147 irregular-edged bunkers and large, undulating greens (averaging 5,694 sq ft) were designed to championship standard, with a 7,600+ yard tournament tee option and elevated central viewing points for spectators. Official Mission Hills marketing calls it the resort's "crown jewel."
