The championship layout at the Ritz-Carlton-operated Penha Longa Resort, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1992 within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. The Atlantic Course hosted the Portuguese Open twice in the years following its opening and remains the resort's headline 18-hole test, complemented on-site by the shorter 9-hole Monastery Course.
