Dan Soutar laid out the course and Alister MacKenzie's 1926 consulting visit reshaped its bunkering into some of the most admired sand hazards in world golf — the club's own site describes the philosophy as "beauty in simplicity, genius in restraint." Consistently ranked among the top courses in Australia and the world, it is a private club that the club's site says extends "a warm welcome to international visitors seeking to experience one of golf's most celebrated designs."
