Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia, on the Melbourne Sandbelt

Melbourne Sandbelt

Kingston Heath traces its roots to the Elsternwick Golf Club, founded in 1909, before relocating to its present Cheltenham site in 1925. Dan Soutar laid out the course and Alister MacKenzie's 1926 consulting visit reshaped its bunkering into some of the most admired sand hazards in world golf — the club's own site describes the philosophy as "beauty in simplicity, genius in restraint." Consistently ranked among the top courses in Australia and the world, it is a private club that the club's site says extends "a warm welcome to international visitors seeking to experience one of golf's most celebrated designs."
