Royal Birkdale Golf Club

Southport, Merseyside, England

England

Founded in 1889 and moved to its current Birkdale Hills site in 1894, Royal Birkdale is regarded by many as England's finest golf course and has hosted The Open Championship ten times. Fairways run through natural corridors between towering dunes rather than over them, giving the course a distinctive flat-fairway, dune-framed character. Tiger Woods called it fair 'because all the trouble's right in front of you.'
